Check that your internet connection stays up if you have fiber or cable service with battery backup. Make sure your phone system keeps working.
You may need to adjust UPS settings to tolerate generator power characteristics, or in some cases, upgrade to commercial UPS models designed for generator compatibility. Some older consumer-grade UPS units simply won’t work reliably with any generator.
Tell your IT provider before you buy
Generator installations involve electricians, and electricians focus on keeping your lights and air conditioning running. They’re not thinking about how your managed switch or SAN will respond to generator power.
